Lincolnshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was reportedly punched, spat at and scratched at a Lincoln shopping centre – all in a dispute over parking.

The assault happened at around 3.15pm on Wednesday, November 18, at the Birchwood Centre on Jasmin Road.

A woman in her 50s is said to have got into an argument over a parking space with a man who was driving a blue van. He then hit out at her.

Family members have taken to Facebook to spread the appeal for witnesses of the assault.

The woman’s daughter wrote: “He punched my mum in the face, spat at her and scratched her. Please help if you have seen anything. She is extremely shaken up.”

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “In what is believed to be a dispute over a parking space, a man argued with, and then hit out at a woman.

“The offender is believed to have been driving a blue van. The woman, who is in her 50s, was left shaken by the incident.

“We are investigating the circumstances and would urge any witnesses with information to call 101.”
