
A section of the A57 Gainsborough Road in Saxilby near Lincoln is closed after a double decker bus caught on fire.
The fire on the Stagecoach bus started in the engine compartment, and the vehicle was not in service at the time.

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “One of our buses suffered a fire in the engine compartment when it was travelling along the A57 between Saxilby and Drinsey Nook.
“The bus was running out of service from our Lincoln Depot to Worksop Depot and there were no passengers on board. The emergency services were contacted and the fire brigade attended.
“Safety is our paramount concern and we will be investigating to determine the cause of the fire.”
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were alerted to the fire at 3.51pm and two fire engines were initially called to attendance with a hose reel and two breathing apparatus.
Lincolnshire Police said that the road will be closed while emergency services deal with the blaze near to the Pulse & Cocktails store.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area at the time of writing

Update 4.55pm, July 30: Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the fire has now successfully been put out. The road will however remain closed for some time.
It is not thought anyone was seriously injured.
